Government realigns education system – FBC News

The realignment of the education system by the FijiFirst government is a promise that students have equal opportunity to access education.

Speaking on Radio Fiji One’s Na Noda Paraiminista, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said some i-Taukei children had been denied education due to misdirection by previous governments.

Bainimarama says students now have access to education and free bus tickets to school, thanks to his government.

“The government has redefined the strategy of the education system to help all students access a better education. This was never done by previous governments. This is something the FijiFirst government will continue to do to help our children.

He says that under the FijiFirst government, scholarships are given to help students continue their education and teachers have also been supported to improve their qualification levels.

“The government has set up the National Toppers Scheme and the Tertiary Education Loan Scheme to help students. The government also reviewed the curriculum and also helped teachers to improve their qualifications. All of this cost the government $445.8 million.

Bainimarama says that despite the aid, some parents continue to speak out against certain government policies.

The FijiFirst Government continues to provide relevant support needed in the education sector to help more qualified students to work in all sectors of the country.
