India’s Ministry of Education has launched YUVA 2.0, which is a PM mentoring program to train young writers under 30. The theme of the PM mentorship program is “Democracy”. YUVA 2.0 will support a stream of writers capable of writing on various facets of democracy in India. Moreover, it would provide a space for aspirants to express themselves and give them a detailed insight into Indian democratic values on national and international platforms.
A national online competition was organized to choose authors under YUVA 2.0 from October 2 to November 30, 2022. A scholarship of Rs 50,000 would be granted per month for six months to each of the 75 selected authors. The National Book Trust, India will publish the books produced by young authors under the PM Mentorship Scheme.
The samples submitted by the authors would be evaluated between December 1, 2022 and January 31, 2023, and the winners would be announced on February 28, 2023. These young authors will also have the opportunity to train with eminent authors from March 1 to August. October 31, 2023. The first series of published books will launch on October 2, 2023.
An official statement from the Ministry of Education states: “The launch of YUVA 2.0 (Young, Upcoming and Versatile Authors) is in line with the Prime Minister’s vision to encourage young people to understand and appreciate Indian democracy. YUVA 2.0 is part of the India @75 project (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) to highlight the perspectives of the younger generation of writers on THE THEME: “Democracy (institutions, events, people, constitutional values - past, present, future) ‘ in an innovative and creative manner. This program will thus contribute to developing a flow of writers who can write on a range of subjects in order to promote Indian heritage, culture and knowledge system.”
