Ministry of Education organizes Language and Literature Month 2022 to preserve unity

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology is organizing the commemoration of Language and Literature Month 2022 throughout October 2022 with the theme “Reviving Together” for maintain national unity.

“Through the theme, we invite all parties to uphold the spirit of Youth Engagement and work together to recover from the pandemic (COVID-19),” said E. Aminuddin Aziz, Head of the Ministry’s Language Development and Promotion Agency. .

He said the spirit of living together again was reflected in various activities to commemorate Language and Literature Month, including appreciation, discussion, competition and knowledge-sharing activities.

The Language and Literature Month 2022 was also aimed at maintaining the spirit of national unity – which was initiated by young Indonesians through the Youth Pledge, declared at the closing of the Second Youth Congress in Jakarta on October 28, 1928, sued the head of the agency. .

“Furthermore, (the commemoration intends) to increase community involvement in language and literature issues, as well as to foster and develop Indonesian language and literature,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the target of 2022 Language and Literature Month activities are all users, observers and enthusiasts of Indonesian language and literature.

A number of activities organized as part of the commemoration of Language and Literature Month 2022 include the awarding of the Literature Prize of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, a sign language storytelling contest, a book review contest, a video contest and a language quiz.

There will also be a virtual poetry musicalization competition, the election of national language ambassadors, as well as the Festival of Indonesian Friends (Handai) – a series of competitions for foreigners who know the Indonesian language and cultures.

In addition, the ministry will organize a number of school theater group performances as well as Connecting Indonesia – which is a language preservation program.

“Language and Literature Month is also commemorated across Indonesia at language centers and offices as well as schools, universities and language and literature observers,” Aziz added.
