In commemoration of this year’s World Teachers’ Day, a coalition of groups supporting Labor Party (LP) presidential candidate for the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, have criticized the federal government for allegedly defrauding Nigerian students at the about the persistence of the Academic Staff Union of Universities Strike (ASUU).
In a keynote address on Wednesday in Abuja, the national chairman of the Association of Diction Coaches of Nigeria (ADCN), Peter Piper, said Nigerian students have been cheated out of their rights and are being given certification instead of the ‘education.
He said: “We have been ripped off in the name of schooling they give certification instead of education no form of knowledge and skill acquisition can you imagine keeping students for more than 7 months on behalf of the ASUU strike.
“We are in the 21st century and we need to overhaul our education system in this new Nigeria.
We need to reform and change our curriculum in the education system. We need to rethink education, a new group of people in the Ministry of Education, if we want to have a new Nigeria, we need to start with teachers, remember change starts with you.
