The Ministry of Education opens a crisis room for the integration of Ukrainian immigrant children into the school system

The Ministry of Education is opening a crisis room to oversee the integration of thousands of new immigrant children from Ukraine into the school system.

In addition to departmental representatives, the crisis room will be made up of immigration professionals, advisers, community representatives and youth workers.

The team will work to integrate students and their parents into the education system and the community.

As growing waves of refugees from Ukraine stream into neighboring countries, thousands have applied for the right to immigrate to Israel under the Law of Return, which grants citizenship to anyone with at least one Jewish grandparent or married to an Israeli.

Israel has also allowed the entry of a limited number of refugees who are not eligible for citizenship. However, these visas only allow them to stay in the country without fear of deportation, but do not allow them to legally work, send their children to school or access Israeli health care.
