KATHMANDU, May 13: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on Wednesday ordered all educational institutions to provide two days of vacation per week in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers of April 26.
At the ministry on Wednesday, Education Minister Devendra Poudel made a ministerial decision and decided that the two-day holiday Saturday and Sunday would be applicable to all private and community education institutions across the country.
The Center for Education and Human Resource Development on Wednesday issued instructions to all education development and coordination units to implement the decision at the ministerial level. According to the director of the center, Ram Chandra Sharma, the four-point directive issued by the center states that leave should be granted on Saturdays and Sundays from May 15. With regard to the management of the school under the same directive, the school must provide lessons in the classrooms from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as usual.
Likewise, holidays will be removed from summer, winter and other annual holidays to ensure the smooth running of academic sessions without reducing reading hours as provided by the National Curriculum Draft 2076 BS.
