The Ministry of Education will celebrate Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas today, check the details

It was in 2021, when the central government declared that every year November 15 would be celebrated as ”Janjatiya Gaurav Divas”. It is the birthday of Birsa Munda who is revered as Bhagwan by tribal communities across the country. The day will be celebrated annually in memory of the brave tribal freedom fighters. Birsa Munda was an iconic freedom fighter, social reformer and revered tribal leader of the country, who bravely fought against the exploitative British colonial government system and became a legendary figure in his lifetime, often referred to as ” Bhagwan”.

According to the Ministry of Education “To commemorate the contribution of tribal freedom fighters, the Ministry of Education, in association with AICTE, UGC, Central Universities, Private Universities, other educational institutions higher education, CBSE, KVS, NVS and famous skill institutions ‘JanjatiyaGaurav Divas’.”

“The contributions of courageous tribal leaders like Bhagwan Birsa Munda and others will be highlighted during these celebrations. The students will also be commended for their good work,” the ministry added.

As mentioned above, it will be celebrated in educational institutions across the country. The celebration will also see a large number of programs such as debating competitions on the theme “Contribution of Janjati heroes to the struggle for freedom”, social activities. The goal is to inspire future generations to recognize their sacrifices as tribal freedom fighters for the country, and also to carry forward their legacy and conserve tribal culture, art and rich tribal heritage.
