Union Department of Education Lauds Center’s Agnipath Recruitment Program through NIOS

The School Education and Literacy Department of the Union Ministry of Education has welcomed the initiative of the Government of India to integrate young men and women into the armed forces through “Agnipath” , to develop a dynamic defense force and disciplined skilled youths with a military ethos in civil society, the Union Education Ministry said on Thursday. “To support this initiative, the Department of School Education and Literacy – through its autonomous institution the National Institute of Open Education (NIOS) – is implementing a special program in consultation with the Defense Authorities to enable Agniveers, who have passed 10th grade, to continue their education and obtain a certificate of achievement in 12th grade by developing personalized courses that are not only current but also highly relevant to their field of service,” said the ministry in an official statement.

According to the Department of Education, “NIOS’ open education system is extremely user-friendly and accessible to anyone, anywhere, anytime, as it opens doors for all Agniveers under the Agnipath program” . He added that “this certificate is recognized for both employment and higher education purposes across the country. This will benefit Agniveers to acquire adequate qualification and skills to play a productive role in society later This special program from NIOS will facilitate enrollment, course development, student support, provision of self-study materials, accreditation of study centers, personal contact program, assessment and certification.”

This certificate will endow Agniveers with relevant knowledge and skills and will enable them to pursue jobs and higher education across India.”

The recruitment program will offer young people the opportunity to serve in the regular framework of the armed forces for a period of 4 years, including the training period. Agniveers must be recruited between the ages of 17.5 and 21. Anyone who has passed the 10th or 12th class can apply for recruitment. (ANI)
