NRA Online Hunter Training Course is now available in PA

(WTAJ) – Prospective hunters who need to be certified before getting their first Pennsylvania license now have another option, according to the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

The completion of the National Rifle Association (NRA) free online hunter education course will meet the prerequisites necessary to be licensed as a hunter or fur taker throughout Pennsylvania.

According to the NRA’s online training site, the course is designed to help new hunters ages 11 and up learn to be safe and responsible members of the hunting community.

Students will need a Pennsylvania Customer ID number to take the course, which can be found or created at Hunt and Fish PA website, the licensing service of the Game Commission.

The free NRA course will be offered in addition to the in-person and online courses currently offered by the Game Commission, according to the release.

To schedule an online or in-person course offered by the Gaming Commission, you can visit the hunter education page on their website.

“Maintaining Pennsylvania’s strong hunting tradition largely depends on the continued recruitment of new hunters, and the more options they have to get the training they need to get licensed, the happier they all are,” said the executive director of the Game Commission. Bryan Burhans noted.

“For decades, hunter education has provided new hunters with the foundation to make wise and safe decisions when they begin hunting and trapping the great outdoors, and we are pleased to welcome the NRA into the fold to help meet our recruitment needs. ”
